"But don't just listen to God's Word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves." James 1:22

John 14:18 says, "No, I will not abandon you as orphans - I will come to you."

So putting the two verses together, in order to "do what it says," we (Man Up group) are going to the orphans of Uganda and Ethiopia in August of 2012. I am so excited and yet anxious about the trip. I've begun reading "The Hole in Our Gospel" by Richard Stearns with the hope of becoming more prepared. From the description I've received from previous trip participants, I'm not sure anything can prepare me for the pending experience.

I am also gearing up for some fundraising (more to follow). Fundraising will be used not only to support travel costs, but also to provide much needed items (many of which we typically take for granted in this country) directly to the orphans.

As an aside...I just finished reading "Every Day Deserves a Chance" by Max Lucado. If you haven't read it, go get it. Quick, easy, and very to the point.
